But quickly enough it was all about one of the most awful love-triangles ever! And an incredibly selfish and immature heroine. I can't understand all the reviews praising her as a strong woman. Of course she fights but otherwise makes the worst decisions and blames wrongly people all around. And she is emotionally so unstable. The horrible ending just reinforced that I won't continue with this series. How it seems logical to choose the new guy who used and lied to you instead of the guy who protected you over 10 years and told you that he can't be with you (though you still blame him for that), elutes me. What an egocentric heroine. But I guess like will to like.

With Keri and Joe Shannon Stacey creates two very loveable, interesting and adorable characters. They aren’t perfect people, they enjoy pranks and jokes, aren’t immune to vanity or jealousy. But deep down they are good people. And that’s what makes reading this book so much fun. Joe never really got over Keri who left him after high school to go of to Berkley. Though they were both deeply in love they had different aims in live. They haven’t met in 18 years and now Keri is forced to get an interview with now famous author Joe. I was already sold on this book when I read this premise. What possibilities! Then Joe more or less forces Keri to go with him and his whole family for a 10 day camping trip. That’s where the whole fun starts. It’s not only about Joe and Keri, it’s also about the whole Kowalski family, a very intriguing and chaotic bunch of people. I loved that these supporting characters are drawn so detailed. They get they own side stories and have real characteristics. They are part of the reason why reading this book is so amusing. And then there is this amazing chemistry between the two main characters. It’s hot, it’s sizzling and it’s soooo endearing. I was definitely voting for them to be together. One of the sweetest couples ever. And don’t get me wrong it’s not all about love, there are also some interesting nightly episodes… In addition I liked the writing style. It’s easily flowing with amusing dialogues. I can’t put my finger on it but it was effortlessly normal and at the same time perfect to read. All together this is a perfect contemporary romance story. It’s like an adult version of Anna and the French Kiss with a slightly different scenario. I honestly can’t find any faulty things. I actually read the book already twice before writing this review. So do believe me you will love this book and these characters, too. Luckily there are two more Kowalski books out, so that we won’t get any withdrawal symptoms.

review2013-09-16T00:00:00+01:002013-09-16T00:00:00+01:00http://Nimue.booklikes.com/post/701224/postNimuehttp://Nimue.booklikes.com Promises is one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read. In addition it's the story of a friendship between two amazingly lovely men. When Matt moves to Coda, Colorado he immediately hits it off with Jared. Fro the beginning on Jared, who works in the family-owned hardware store, makes in clear to Matt that he is gay and interested. Matt however stats that he is straight and only interested in a friendship. And good friends they become. It's written so endearingly how they share their free time with mountain-biking, barbecues, dinners, sports. They become very close and Jared is unsure how he should read Matt, who sends out mixed signals. When they share some tender moments, Jared is certain that Matt likes him more than a friend maybe even is in love with him. But Matt balks and runs out on Jared, who is devastated. When Jared entertains an old friend Matt realises that he is jealous. Should he do something about it? I love this book. It's easy to read, entertaining and I want the main characters to be my best gay friends. This story is one of the best, what you would call, gay-for-you books out there. Matt is deep in the closet and isn't really aware of this either. In general he is a very lonely man. It's touching to read how he opens up to Jared and how they build up first friendship, and later love. Matt has to overcome some serious personal barriers. And the author manages to not slip into cliché scenarios. On the other hand it is not only Matt who has to change his way of thinking. Jared too, is stuck in some outdated ways of thinking of gay live in small american towns. I liked that both of them have to fight/do something to build a relationship. The sex scenes are written in very sensual way and they are hot, really hot! If you want to read some great, sexy, romantic, GLBT love story, that's the book to go for! And even better it is the start of Coda series.

review: Hallowed Bond (Chronicles of Ylandre #2)2013-07-29T00:00:00+01:002013-07-29T00:00:00+01:00http://Nimue.booklikes.com/post/701221/hallowed-bond-chronicles-of-ylandre-2Nimuehttp://Nimue.booklikes.com
I loved diving back into the world of Ylandre which was a lot more familiar now. But though I like Dylen's character I didn't like the relationship with Rio. Rio seems too opportunistic and week-minded. I was actually upset with Dylen for forgiving him and still being in love with Rio. Nevertheless already because of the fantastic world this book gets 4 out of 5 stars.

Most of the fantasy books I read nowadays have a bit of magic/fantasy embedded in our real world. So it was a nice change to read about this completely fictional world/universe of Aisen. Though I had to learn quite a bit of background information I was very much intrigued by this new world. Most of all because there exist no woman. All the "men" in Ylandre are hermaphrodites. That's a motiv you hardly come by in modern literature but is presented in a fascinating way. The story is about the blue-blood ruler of the country Ylandre, Rohyr, and a simple half-blood boy from one of the outer cities, Lassen. When Rohyr visits Lassen's hometown and sees Lassen for the first time something almost magical happens between them. Rho offers the royal help in exchange for Lassen becoming his mistress. Lassen has to get used very fast to the royal court in the capital and how to deal with his status. Meanwhile there is still the growing bond between the two lovers. But Lassens position doesn't allow for love and when it comes to the decision what is best for the country he has to make a huge sacrifice. I loved both main characters immediately. The very young naive and gentle Lassen and the worldly majestic Rohyr which is nevertheless only a man who wants someone to take care of and being taken care of. The relationship their are bilding is described beautifully. I also like the Rho's family. The warm nature between all this cousins added to the overall story. And of course their had to be someone evil. But even the villain or maybe better villains are portrayed in a human way. A fantastic debut novel! Highly recommended.

review: Time Thief: A Time Thief Novel2013-05-11T00:00:00+01:002013-05-11T00:00:00+01:00http://Nimue.booklikes.com/post/701223/time-thief-a-time-thief-novelNimuehttp://Nimue.booklikes.com
But her usual operus modis of I-can't-tell-you, missed opportunities and mainly misunderstandings is starting to annoy me strongly. In the Time Thief most of the problems wouldn't be any problems if one or all of the characters would just talk to each other instead of saying "I don't have time now" but have clearly time to kiss and snuggle with each other. It's so silly and I feel cheated out of a proper story line. I guess that was the last MacAlister book for me, which is a pity as the setting and the characters are indeed interesting and loveable.

Set during the Napoleonic Wars this book offers well researched historical background and even better developed characters. It's one of my favourite love stories ever, gay or straight.

So the story of Lissa and Saber should have been great for me.
Unfortunately I was mainly rolling my eyes while reading! Lissa's behaviour in this book is just too stupid. She goes on an important undercover job to save the universe and is absolutely unwilling to actually play the part. This just so annoying. Otherwise the book is written as well as all the others in this series and I enjoyed the erotic part of it as well. And of course it's great to catch up with all the other brides as well.
The only other complain would be the side story about the villain, which seemed overly rushed in the end.
